CHAS (The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) was created by experienced health and safety professionals in 1997 to improve health and safety standards across the UK.
SMAS H&S Certification Scheme provides management of contractor H&S assessments. Valid SSIP means that a contractor has demonstrated their capability by meeting the SSIP ‘core criteria’.
The Alcumus SafeContractor scheme is a SSIP-approved health and safety assessment scheme for contractors who want to demonstrate that they’re taking responsibility for their legal health and safety requirements.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Louise deals with the whole application process and lets you get on with running your business.
YOUR APPLICATION
You will be required to provide company documentation which is required as part of the application process. The application which is completed online asks for information about your company, copies of company policies, training certificates, copies of recent risk assessment and method statement etc.
If you do not have certain documentation, Louise can assist you to tailor documentation to suit your business.
At the end of the application process, Louise will provide all of your documentation in an electronic version for you to save on your system.
Louise can also provide a support agreement to help you with the annual renewal application or when your documents expire and have to be updated on the portals
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The cost will depend on the size and complexity of your business and what needs to be implemented to comply with the accreditation application process. Louise will discuss this with you and provide a detailed proposal for you to consider.
Please note you will also have to pay the awarding bodies’ accreditation fees. These costs can be found on their websites.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
When you accept your proposal, Louise will let you know the next available slot for the work to be completed.
Please note that Louise has no influence over the timescales from the accreditation bodies, and this will depend on the waiting lists they have for assessment at that particular point in time.
